Ngala Beach Lodge
A lovely campsite on the beach of lake malawi with a lovely grassy flat area to park your truck or pitch your tent. The Ablutions are functional and the water is hot, except you need to plan your visits as sometimes if there are few people the hot water runs out. It does everywhere and at least they are good showers so it’s a tiny issue.
If the weather is not so good there is an indoor area where you could cook and sit to eat dinner. It’s quite large probably enough space for 20 people.
If you’re planning on going to the island the fast boat leaves from here. There is a secure car park with a high fence all the way around and a security guard sat at the gate so you can be sure your car is safe for your visit to the island.
Camping is 10k Malawi Kwacha per person per night. Thats for a spot on the grass next to the beach. You can use of Kayaks and swimming pool and there’s free WiFi in restaurant and bar.
The food in the restaurant was quite good we had fish and chips as you do when you’re on a lake. The beer is a little expensive and we found it better value to go up the road to the local bar but they are always better value at local bars. The difference was quite large and as we like a beer so we went up the road which is 400 m. Going to the local bar however is not for the faint hearted or for the newbie. The lodge bar is much nicer.
There are rooms of various sizes capacities and prices and I have posted a few photos of those. They look very nice and some have a lake view from up the small hill.
We actually stayed five nights as we liked it that much so that says something. One of our friends stayed even longer, we thought they were never going to leave.
