Freaky Friday...12/12/2013 I'm not freaking out yet....
So coming home has been a fest of broken failing devices. Shower and cooker being noteworthy.... On a more positive note the car passed its MOT so we are now mobile and don't need to borrow Mums car. Actually its Dads car and he put up with the flowers on the side......me not so much.....How about some bear paws....hehe. Thanks Mum. So the reason for the post. My portable hard drive was accidentially partially deleted....my fault. We copied (recovered!) off all the data to my main PC at home (7 hours work). This is the one that contains ALL photos and backups on multiple redundant drives. This has failed. Completely failed. I supect motherboard or PSU (power) and I do not know whats happened to any of the data. I'm currently creating another backup of the photos since Africa (that would be the 6000 of the America's). The Africa ones are in a state of limbo until I can get another PC or buy a USB to SATA adapter to see if they still exist on any of the drives. I think I have 3 copies of them but its a long time since I did the backups. Recovery, if possible, will need to be done via the laptop they repaired today in my home (Argh !). Problem is copying many GBs of files around means lots of blank storage. I've just got another 1TB of storage. This is enough for maybe 15% of my stuff.....and thats only the recent stuff. So i'm freaking out and have maybe 48 hours of copying to do onto blank drives I cannot afford. Worse case is we get a new PC in another lifetime.....this may have to wait until we get jobs next year..... Breaking News...11/5/2013 I've decided to ditch the Facebook posts to my personal page. So all future posts should be copies to the OverLandBirds Facebook profile. I hope the changes work....!
This of course means I need to post somethings twice and effectively doubles the work if i start making status updates on there. I must be mad ! Blog Feature Added.26/8/2012 You can now add your Email to the FeedBurner box to the right of this blog entry. You will then be notified each time I update the blog via an Email into your inbox. Thats all it does. If you have problems with it please let me know via the contact us form.
FYI I'm currently having problems with any comments posted to the blog. I'm not recieving Email notifications of your comments. I will hopefully not miss any and this shouldn't really matter but until its sorted I have to go back through comment manually and could miss the odd one. Apologies, I do read them all normally! Live Tracking13/9/2011 Thanks to a work colleague we now have online tracking on this very web site. We can use the Sat Phone to send an Email to the map and it then plots the location for all to see. The map can include not only the location but a short message as well.

Web Site Stats.27/7/2011 Its quite amazing that everytime we go out in the Land Rover the web site gets about 50 hits that same day. People must see it and then visit the web site when they get home. Or they go on their smart phones. Truely amazing that people are really that interested in what we are doing. I suppose we put the URL on the 110 for a reason and i suppose this is it.
Welcome to all you visitors. Web Site16/7/2011 Got some stickers fo the 110 made up to reflect this moment, which will go nicely on the front wing. We've also got some of the de-facto bear paw prints for the side. We actually thought the 110 was looking rather too military and not at all civilian which may be risky. So on with the bling !
