GPS, Wheel Bearings30/8/2011 The GPS came with minutes to spare and i've spent the bank holiday weekend re-greasing the front wheel bearings. Not a job i like to do ! The first was a right pig and decided to spill its swivel grease all over the drive. Did the second one differently. I really should have cut the break pipe retaining clips so i don't need to undo the top swivel pin.
Forgot to mention the fan we bought is also fitted to the middle of the roof infront of the reat view mirror. Hopefully this will make some hot nights bearable. Special Delivery B4 1pm Saturday....27/8/2011 You'd think they would actully mean B4 1pm. Its 12:10pm and i'm getting impatient. COME ON Royal Mail pull ya fecking finger out. I want my new GPS delivered.
Syrian Visa's arrived today.26/8/2011 so this is the first part of the paperwork. Need to get the carnet money deposited in the RAC bank account and then wait for that to arrive.
The Never ending list of stuff to do isn't getting shorter. Job - What Job ?23/8/2011 So we've both resigned. Julie has a couple of weeks to do and i have till 30th September. I'm scared. I've just looked at the bank and totalled up all our money. With nothing coming in the total must now last us till we finish. Did i think what about the overlap when we come back before we both get work again. Did i hell.....oops. Oh well onwards and forwards.
Carnet and Syria Visa19/8/2011 Both carnet and Syria visa are applied for. With any luck these should be processed quickly. All i need to do now is sort out letting the house out.
Did i mention, Julie isn't helping a bit ? Ferry ? What Ferry...18/8/2011 Ferry is off and its official. Now going via Syria. Visa applications to do and then post and also to sort out the carnet. So a set of passports is going to go to who knows where. Lucky we have a second set ! Going to get the Visa's with validity into next year as we still don't know when we are leaving for sure. The won't post date them so we're going for the more expensive and longer validity ones. Its £50 each, two application forms and a letter of my employer. Well at least the employer who pretends he's employing me. (Thanks Noel)
How many bush jokes are there......?18/8/2011 She's back and with a nice new full bush kit. She actully rides better so the old ones must have been a bit tired. Took the garage 7 hours to do them and some needed to be burnt and cut out. Very happy with the work but i'm going to have a crawl under later to make sure everything is OK. The link to the garage is on the links page, recomended and ask for John.
Missing Her Already.15/8/2011 My baby is at the garage. I hope everything goes OK with getting the bushes done.
One in the hand...part 212/8/2011 Matilda goes in to get all her bushes replaced tomorrow. Should have her back by Wednesday. I just couldn't be bothered to do it myself.
I've also started a catalog of all the spares i'm taking, its quite a list. I'll post it on the site when i'm finished. Also turns out the extra fuel tank has a leak. Its a weep of diesel actually. Not sure if its the banjo on the bottom or the welding around the banjo. If its the latter it will have to stay as it is. If its the former i'll have to wait till the tank is empty to fix it. I've tried tightening it up but it didn't make any difference. Hangover from Hell.6/8/2011 We slept in the 110 last night on the streets of Nottingham. The car was the topic of conversation for quite a bit of the evening where we were celebrating a colleagues 37th Birthday. Makes me feel old as it was a few years ago when i was that young. I drank, as always, way too much and even danced. I do not do "dancing" very often. I now have a mother of a hangover and have just been back to bed for two hours. Never again.....LMAO.
Change to the bed....again!5/8/2011 Since fitting the roll out draw in the back we've not been able to use the tall Really Useful Boxes in the back as they wouldn't go under the bed frame. I ordered some 20x10 steel to replace the 20x20 for the cross member as 10mm extra was all we needed. I knocked up a coss member at lunch today in 10mins. We can now fit all 4 large boxes in the back again.
This is the third time i've had to re-weld the bed and its pretty much good now. Theres only one design flaw that can't really be altered but its not a big deal. Its sort of a six of one and half a dozen issue that is just staying like it is. Passports, one headache less3/8/2011 Today we both received our second passports. Not as hard to get as we thought. These will come in very handy when we need to send one off for Visa's allowing us to continue the journey. With the way the world is at the moment sending one passport back to the UK might be the only option to get us into some places. Anyhow, we have them if we need them. Also got the larger 48 page versions. £93.50 each ! Ouch.
