How Much to Fill Up ??? OMG !31/7/2011 Well the tank is fitted and I've put in 40litres of fuel to see if we have any leaks. None yet !
We're going to put in another 30 or so litres and then go to the garage to top it off. This will be the big test of the leaks as we should have about 120 litres in there. I have a plan to then drive to Fort William and back on one tank to test the mileage and fuel consumption. Cooking Shelf29/7/2011 The cooking shelf is finally finished thanks to the farm shop. They came up with the idea of using a sash window fitch (yes its called a fitch, google it) to hold the shelf closed
Fuel Tanks28/7/2011 Just got my arch fuel tank from Maverick4x4. We've had a few items off Andy at Maverick, Roof Rack and Steps, Shocks and now the Tank. Not the easiest thing to fit but took the opportunity to check the main tank and removed it to check it was all OK. Its not completed yet as it still needs plumbing in but i'm about 70% finished and i'm pretty knackered. Thats another 45 litres so about 250 miles more range. We should make 650 miles on the new setup and with a couple of Jerries we should make 800 miles at least.
Web Site Stats.27/7/2011 Its quite amazing that everytime we go out in the Land Rover the web site gets about 50 hits that same day. People must see it and then visit the web site when they get home. Or they go on their smart phones. Truely amazing that people are really that interested in what we are doing. I suppose we put the URL on the 110 for a reason and i suppose this is it.
Welcome to all you visitors. Ordered the new bushes for the suspension. Going to get them fitted because i can't be bothered. I've been quoted an hour a corner which i'd say is OK.
Spot Lights.24/7/2011 Spotlights fitted and wired in. Not sure they are in the best place so might need to weld something onto the bull bar. We shall see (or not!). Need to go out to test them out tonight. Might be able to take some photos or them to see how bright they are.
Cooking Shelf23/7/2011 Fitted a cooking shelf to the back door and I am rather proud of it. We've seem one at Billing for £90 and this cost me about £30 and its custom fitted. I'll post some pictures in later on. Still needs a bit of work but its 98% completed.
Rabies and Jabs21/7/2011 Had our first Rabies jab and all is well. Still got two more of those to go.
Tanks Alot20/7/2011 We've sort of decided to change the main tank on the defender from 80 ish litres to 120 litres. This is an expensive item coming in at £410 plus VAT, Ouch ! It will also mean moving the anti roll bar down by buying some spacers used for people with suspesion lifts. So its an expensive thing.
I should also change all the suspension bushes whilst i'm at it and i'm not looking forward to that ! Julie says i'm just going to have to knuckle down and do it. She's correct of course. It needs doing. Before we go. I'm tempted to get it done in a garage but it is a crap job and the one i've already asked said "no". You see what i mean. Medical Kit19/7/2011 Ordered some needles and stuff today for the ever growing First Aid Kit. Also we're both off for the second round of injections today. We're starting to look like pin cushions.
Carnet is almost sorted19/7/2011 Called the RAC again today and managed to get some great news. Valued the vehicle at £1500 which means i don't have to bother with the bank guarantee. I can just lodge the money with the RAC and forget about it. Fantastic news !
Fitted the wheel to the bonnet and the steering damper. Took a few hours as the damn steering damper fouled on the steering guard. The only way i could get it to fit was with lots of manual sawing ! Couldn't get power tools in to get at it. Bugger !
More Equipment, More Money16/7/2011 Bought a new steering damper today and a mount to put one of the spare wheels on the bonnet. Another sunday job to fit them. The Britpart damper i have on has very poor quality rubber bushes which are split so its needs changing.
Web Site16/7/2011 Got some stickers fo the 110 made up to reflect this moment, which will go nicely on the front wing. We've also got some of the de-facto bear paw prints for the side. We actually thought the 110 was looking rather too military and not at all civilian which may be risky. So on with the bling !
